The Medan Trio tells stories by playing improvised, open music, combined with visual art. It features Nathalie Schaap (voc & bass), Kasper Rietkerk (saxophones) and Laurens Schweppe (keys).
They are officially founded in 2018 when they decided to write music together after some temporary projects they did. The trio is always been fascinated about the combination of visuals and music. At the end of 2018 they met a drawer and animator named Timon Vader. Together they are looking for different ways to tell stories and communicate emotions.
Together they started the project ‘The Story of Tareq’, about a Syrian refugee they met. With Timon Vader, the Medan Trio made a show and a brand new EP which was released in 2020. The tour would have taken place in April 2020 but because of Covid-19 they had to postpone it. In June 2021, they were finally able to premiere their performance with which they are still active today.
