They are officially founded in 2018 when they decided to write music together after some temporary projects they did. The trio is always been fascinated about the combination of visuals and music. At the end of 2018 they met a drawer and animator named Timon Vader. Together they are looking for different ways to tell stories and communicate emotions.
Together they started the project ‘The Story of Tareq’, about a Syrian refugee they met. With Timon Vader, the Medan Trio made a show and a brand new EP they will release in 2020. The show will tour through the Netherlands in April 2020.
YEAH ITS HERE!
We are very proud to finally present you our first official single
‘MUTINI (My Pride)’.
This Arabic song is about the pain and pride we felt when we heard Tareq talking about his wonderful Syria. Pain because he’s here and can’t nearly do anything to help the Syrian people. But most of all we felt pride because despite all the trouble there is in Syria right now, he still loves that country with all he has.
The lyrics are from a poem by Ibrahim Touqan (إبراهيم طوقان)
The power, the beauty, the high position and the pride
Within your boundaries and life, survival, highness and hope
In your sky.

Born in 1995, Eindhoven, I grew up drawing dinosaurs and fish, playing with Lego a lot and spending time in nature.
From 2014 to 2018 I attended the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in illustration. In 2016, I spent a semester at UMPRUM, the Academy of Architecture Art and Design in Prague. Besides the visual arts I also make music by myself and in a progressive funge (funk-grunge) band called Rainbow Mafia and formerly Supergroover.
And now I spend a lot of time at artist collective and platform for drawing-culture ‘Het Huis van Betekenis.’ (Roughly translated to House of Meaning)
